TRAVEL | THAILAND GUIDE: BANGKOK

Before I begin, I must admit that Thailand was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It was a short trip but so rich thanks to all the wonderful people I've met on the way, the delicious things I ate and the unforgettable things I've seen. It also was a trip full of firsts. My first time in Asia, my first time in the jungle and I can go on and on and on.

Bangkok reminded me of New York at first. The buildings were huge, taxis and cars everywhere and life obviously goes fast. But walking around in the different districts, I really fell in love with all the foodstands at the side of the road! Most of you know by now that I love to eat. So walking around in a city that smells like food all the time was somewhere in between heaven and hell. It all smelled unbelievably good but I was hungry the entire time.

We were only in Bangkok for two days so we decided to spend those days doing only the best we could find. To sleep, that brought us to the Muse Hotel by MGallery. The hotel is a bit more upscale, we came straight out of the jungle of Khao Sok so we decided to spoil ourselves! You could actually just go to Bangkok and have an awesome time without leaving this hotel. It has a rooftop pool + bar, award winning restaurants and the rooms are beyond amazing! Another perk is the location. It is only a 10 min walk from one of the biggest shopping malls in Bangkok - Centralworld and if you walk 5 minutes more, you have the designer mall Siam Square that is filled with small boutiques from local designers.

If you do want to leave the hotel for food, I highly recommend one of the places I had dinner at. The first one is Gaggan. It is actually right accross the street from the Muse hotel! After watching the Netflix series Chef's table, we just had to get a seat at his restaurant in Bangkok. We tried to make reservations 4 weeks before we arrived but that didn't work, so make sure you make your reservation at least 3 months in advance. We tried our luck and went to the restaurant at noon to beg for a table. I guess our sad faces worked because we scored a table. And dear lord, the begging was totally worth it. Without exaggerating, it was the best meal of my life!

The second evening, we had dinner at Suhring, a two Michelin star restaurant by two German chefs, the brothers Suhring. I'm a sucker for Asian food but these brothers really got it right when it comes to flavours. We chose the 8 course meal accompagnied by some great European wines.

I can honestly say that I can die a happy girl after these experiences. But I plan to have a lot more first! Keep an eye on social for the next part of my Thailand adventures!
